Final College Football Playoff Rankings – The way they SHOULD look

The campaign time is over. It’s time for the College Football Playoff Selection Committee to determine and announce who the four teams will be that compete for the National Championship. The process isn’t so cut and dry this time around. There are seven teams that have a legitimate claim on one of the four spots. Well, I should say there are four teams that have legitimate arguments for the last spot. In my eye, Alabama and Ohio State are locks, and Washington is very close to a lock. That…

College Football Conference Championship Weekend Picks

It’s College Football’s Conference Championship Weekend,  and while there should be no issues with the top four teams in this week’s College Football Playoff Rankings, at least two of them could easily be knocked out with a loss this weekend. Ohio State seems to be the most secure, even though they’re not playing this weekend. Alabama, looks like a lock as well even if they lose to Florida, but that’s not guarantee, despite their number one ranking.  The other two spots are definitely up for grabs. So, can Clemson and…

College Football Saturday Picks – Week 3

Sportsandswag.com College Football Saturday Picks are back, and what a Saturday it should be! The top 3 teams in the AP and Coaches poll all have true road tests against ranked opponents. First time that’s happened in the history of the poll. If, all three lose, what a Shakeup that would be in the national landscape. But, the impact could be bigger for teams like Oklahoma and Ole Miss if they lose, because at this point they would likely be out of the College Football Playoff picture.¬† Now, onto my…

Houston beating Sooners on field, Longhorns on TV, prove Cougars belong in Big 12

You don’t have to be a mathematician to figure out a 33-23 score is a larger number than score of 12.0 – 11.5. However, in the world of college football TV ratings, the Big 12, and Houston Cougars football, the 12.8- 11.5 score is just as big, if not bigger. The Houston Cougars won two huge battles in college football’s first weekend of play in 2016. The Coogs defeated the Oklahoma Sooners 33-23 on the field, and then defeated the Texas Longhorns in living rooms across the Houston TV market,…

Critical Weekend for SEC in Big 12 vs SEC Challenge

In a lot of ways, SEC Hoops has finally seemed to turn the corner from years of mediocrity. In recent year’s, Kentucky and Florida were the only teams of any relevance when it came to it’s performance in the NCAA Tournament. Last season, saw the SEC receive five bids (Kentucky, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss). This season the league seems likely to get four. There is still plenty of time for there to be more, or less. Any push to secure more bids starts today when some of the SEC’s…

College Football Playoff Selection Sunday – Final Rankings

After a fairly predictable Championship Saturday, we’re pretty much in the same spot with the same four teams as we have been for the last couple of weeks. The four teams are a foregone conclusion. How those four teams, or more likely how three of the four teams are seeded could be a different story. Despite the predictability, there were several things to take away from Saturday’s games. Iowa is legit. The Hawkeyes were widely looked at as the team that didn’t belong in the Top 4 due to their…
