If you haven’t heard, on Monday, the Raiders traded quarterback Terrelle Pryor to the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks for a 7th round draft pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
With Matt Schaub on the roster now, it was pretty obvious Pryor wasn’t going to be the Raiders starting QB. So, he asked to be traded. Now, he gets to sit behind Russell Wilson in Seattle. Looks to me, Pryor would want to stay in Oakland behind interception machine Schaub. He would have a much better shot at seeing the field in Oakland. Besides, Wilson going down to injury his chances of seeing the field in Seattle are zero. Tavaris Jackson, is the backup to Wilson right now but apparently Pryor’s athletic ability intrigues them. It could be a nice fit. We’ll have to see how it works out. Pryor, has shown improvement but he has a long way to go.
The Seahawks acquiring Pryor for a 7th round pick, looks like a bargain price. However, Wilson may not look at it that way, as he will make less money as the starter, than Jackson and Pryor as backups. Jackson’s salary will be around $1.25 million, and Pryor, if he makes the team, will make around $750K. Wilson’s salary comes in at around $600K. Wow! I wonder how Wilson feels being the franchise QB of the Super Bowl champs, but making the 3rd highest salary of the quarterbacks on the roster. Knowing Russell, it’s not a big deal. He knows his payday is coming…..
