The Golden State Warriors are at a huge risk of being in a 2-2 series regardless if Steph Curry plays or not – But if he doesn’t play, Steve Kerr is rolling an even riskier set of dice where the snake eyes are the lethal duo of Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum, in Portland, in front of an insane Moda Center crowd.
As of now, Curry is listed as a game time decision. Even though he’s gone through 3-on-3 drills and other activities, he’s of course not going to be 100 percent. There’s also the risk of him not being ready enough and re-injuring the ankle. At this point in the season though, who is 100 percent healthy? In the end being up 3-1 looks a lot better than being tied 2-2, especially when you consider every ounce of pressure will be on the Warriors to have to win Game 5, not knowing what shape Curry is going to be in. So, Kerr and the Warriors need to play Curry even if it’s in a reduced role off the bench. Because, With Lillard and McCollum each having the ability to go off for 30-plus points or more at the drop of a hat, even playing that Game 5 in Oakland could be dicey. If you’re a Warriors fan, the last thing you want to do is give Portland’s dynamic duo any more confidence than they already have.
